CoMech Metrology is delighted to announce their successful certification with the UK Government Cyber Essentials scheme. Cyber Essentials provides guidance to help organisations of all sizes to measure their defences against common forms of cyber-attacks.
The Cyber Essentials Scheme is part of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy and provides an independent assessment of the essential security controls that organisations need to have in place to mitigate risks from internet-borne threats.
Systems that fall within the range of the Cyber Essential Scheme include internet-connected end-user devices such as desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones, and internet connected systems including email, web and application servers.
To pass the Cyber Essentials Accreditation, CoMech had to complete a Cyber Essentials questionnaire, covering the five key elements of the Cyber Essentials programme. The CoMech systems and network also underwent an external vulnerability assessment, to ensure the company had implemented sufficient and secure controls at the perimeter.
Customers can be confident in CoMech’s handling of the following areas of security:
• Secure configuration
• Access control
• Malware protection
• Patch management
• Proper use of boundary firewalls and internet gateways
Keith Pallett, Managing Director of CoMech Metrology commented, “this certification exhibits to both our new and existing clients that we are examining all possible steps to secure our clients’ data and provides assurances that we have a safe and effective IT environment.”
By successfully going through a Cyber Essentials assessment, CoMech has not only lowered their risk of serious data and financial loss, but by displaying the Cyber Essentials’ badge to our customers we are a business that is cyber safe.
