    The history of CoMech

The CoMech Laboratories were formed by the present owners in 1984, and began life providing clients with Non Destructive Testing services.

Within eighteen months the company had added Destructive Testing to its portfolio, gained NAMAS Accreditation for all of the services, and increased it's employee number to eight staff. In 1987, the Purchase of a Non Destructive and Destructive Testing company in Coventry provided access to the automotive and aviation industries and links with the local Engineering companies, many of which are clients to this day.

CAA Approval was added to the growing Quality Accreditation scope. Involvement during 1987 / 88 with British Rail, British Coal and British Steel provided the springboard for future acquisitions. The next stage of growth was provided with the purchase in 1988, of a Derby based, Calibration Company, providing access to the Military Arms and Equipment markets.

Adding once again more NAMAS Accreditation's in the fields of Mechanical Calibration. By now the number of employees had increased to 43 and the number of sites to three. 1989, saw a consolidation of the company's position and a further acquisition of a Derbyshire based Non Destructive Testing company who specialised in the provision of Non Destructive Testing to the Power Generation Industry. Increasing the scope of UKAS (NAMAS) Accreditation to include site NDT.

The acquisition enabled CoMech to further establish its position in the Nuclear Engineer Industry. Now employing in excess of 60 staff through out the United Kingdom. From an initial investment by each Director / Shareholder of £1,000, the company has continued to grow and prosper and is now well established and known through out the country for the quality services provided to a vast a varied field of markets.

The growth of CoMech from such small beginnings has been unbelievable, when older and better-established businesses have disappeared. The plan was simple at the outset and remains so to this day. Quality staff, quality service, quality products at quality prices - no compromise. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but one thing is for certain which ever avenue we decide to develop it will be for the benefit of our staff, clients and suppliers.
